I Wish I Was Me
By Courtney Natseway
I wish I was me
in the garden
living a dream …
I close my eyes
and say a prayer …
and then comes a breeze
it’s a hug from the spirits
I smile softly.
Then a leaf hits my face
and it’s back to reality …
living a dream
in the garden.
it’s great to be me.

Three Sisters… Corn, Beans, Squash
The Three Sisters have been a part of Indigenous communities for many years. The gardening technique of planting corn, bean and squash forms an ecosystem by creating a community of plants. The system creates a beneficial relationship between each plant that helps the others grow.
The picture to the left shows an example of the Three Sisters being harvested.
